Goals can either be short-term or long-term. Short-term goals are goals that require a small amount of dedication and perseverance. Ones that last at least a day, a week, a couple months, or at most one year. An example of a short-term goal would be to lose 15 pounds in 3 months. A person could eat healthy by not eating fast food or anything fried. Maybe even go out running and not watch T.V. After those three months they will most likely lose 15 pounds. Long-term goals are ones that are longer than one year, like: five, ten, or even a lifetime. An example of a lifetime goal would be to be healthy at age of 80, and not bridle or frail. That short-term goal did coincide with the long-term, but the former can change to fit your current lifestyle at a particular time in life. But in the end the long-term goal requires much more dedication and perseverance to acquire and accomplish.
When goals are met, whether it be short or long-term goals, a sense of pride and accomplishment rushes in and fills a person up. Feeling a great sense of self-worth inspires people to make and create another goal. Goals are supposed to challenge a person to become something that they strive to be. Goals should put a person outside their comfort zone and to try new things which they have never done before. They should make the person who they want to be or who they dream to be. Goals are only completed by the person who starts them; no one else can finish another person’s own goals.
Hi Paul, I definitely agree that completing a goal gives you pride and self-worth. Goals help you in finding yourself as you grow. The nice thing about goals is you can always set new ones and change. People really should let go of their comfort zone without doing so you will never truly know what you may accomplish. It's sad that a lot of people are set in their ways, and will never explore or experience what life has to offer them.
