Common sense is knowledge, and it is derived from how a person is raised and taught by their parents - as those parents taught by theirs. It is also gathered through life's experiences and lessons learned. Furthermore, "common sense" is not so common to every single person. What one person might think is "common sense" another person might not consider that so. Moral and values of one person who considers them common sense, another might have completely different views. Abortion is a perfect example. Some might say the right to life is common sense; another might say the right to choice is common sense. However the differences among common sense are, there are some basics that exists.2 + 2 = 4 is common sense, however, it is taught and evaluated which makes complete sense. Treating a person how you want to be treated is common sense as well, though that needs to be taught to a child to control impulses and anger, which are human natures (are human natures taught - that's another subject). The truth of all common sense is that is must be learned from life or taught by another, however obtained, every person has some form of their common sense - and that’s common among all.
Good post, I found this quote that I liked about common sense.
ReplyDelete“Nothing is more fairly distributed than common sense: no one thinks he needs more of it than he already has”
Rene Descartes
I guess it is true, it is the friend of the person who is usually wishing that their friend had more of it.
